A friend of mine, the Capmaster, was back in town--she moved away in the last few months--and in honor of the fact we brewed a beer today. It was the hop harvest beer in which I used hops from a friend of mine's crop.
Here's the recipe:
-9 lbs. baird's Maris Otter Malt
-1 lb. Munton's 60L crystal
Mashed at 153 for 60 minutes.
1.25 oz. of those hops for 60
1.0 oz. of those hops for 30
.5 oz. of those hops for 15
1.25 o. of those hops for 2
WLP001 California Ale yeast
Strangly I boiled off far less than usual and ended up with 5.75 gallons of 11.1 Plato wort--that's not even all the wort for christ sake. I'm not sure what I fucked up. Still, these are among the best smelling hops I've ever had, so I'm optimistic.
